It has been reassuring to receive your letters of praise and encouragement as we move forward with the newly designed St. Augustine Catholic. Many of you have requested information on our new contributing writers and their short profiles follow.

Father Bill Ashbaugh – is a graduate of Allegheny College in Pennsylvania. He completed his coursework for a Ph.D. in biochemistry at Michigan State University prior to entering the seminary. He is a graduate of the seminary at Catholic University of America and is the pastor of St. Joseph Parish, Howell, Mich.
 
Cheval Breggins – is the Director of Marketing and Media Relations for St. Vincent Catholic Charities in Lansing, Mich. He is also employed part-time as an on-call chaplain for Sparrow Hospital, Lansing. Cheval graduated from Oberlin College, with a degree in psychology and communication.
 
Michael Gannon, Ph.D. – is a Distinguished Service Professor Emeritus of History at the University of Florida, and noted author. He is the author of our new column “From the Archives.”
 
Father Joseph Krupp – was a comedy writer for FOX who discovered he had a calling to the priesthood. He holds a B.A. from the University of Michigan-Flint, and a M.Div. from Sacred Heart Major Seminary in Detroit. He is the author of “In the Know with Father Joe.”
 
Deb McCormack – is the president and chief executive officer of Catholic Charities of Flint. She received a bachelor’s degree in social work from Michigan State University and a master’s degree in social work from Wayne State University. She is certified by the National Association of Social Workers and she has more than 25 years of social work experience. She too is a contributing writer for “Marriage Matters.”
 
Dr. Cathleen McGreal – is a psychology professor at Michigan State University. She received her Ph.D. in developmental psychology from MSU in 1984, focusing on intergenerational family relationships. Cathleen is a certified spiritual director through the St. Francis Retreat Center/Dominican Center for Religious Development program in DeWitt, Mich. Cathleen is author of “Parenting Journey.”
 
Tim Ryan – is an information technology professional who is a graduate of the University of Michigan. He has a master’s degree in pastoral studies from Loyola University, New Orleans. He is the author of “Work Life.”
 
Shannon Scruby-Henderson – is a freelance writer with 25 years of experience in advertising, commercial and editorial projects. She is a Bishop Kenny graduate and she earned her B.A. at Furman University and an M.A. in English Literature from the University of Florida.
 
Elizabeth Solsburg – earned a B.A. from the University of Michigan and a master’s degree in religious education from Loyola University. Additionally, she spent two years studying theology at St. John Provincial Seminary in Plymouth, Mich. Elizabeth is the assistant editor of FAITH magazine and the expert behind “Theology 101.”
